Welcome to the website of 29th World Logging Championships

Welcome to the 29th World Logging Championships in Zagreb, Croatia, September 23-27, 2010. It is a great honour to wish all the best to all participants and their fans on our traditional bi-annual competition. The first WLC was organised jointly between Hungary and former Yugoslavia in 1970, so in a way, logging championship is coming home (to borrow the phrase from football). Of course, the logging was not invented in Croatia, but nonetheless, we will do our best to make your stay pleasant and memorable. Apart from the competition, where you will be fully focused to achieve the best result, we will do our best to make sure that everything is well-organised and also to spend some time together with all of you in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

About organisers

The 29th World Logging is organised by ialc and Hrvatske šume, state company for management of 2 mill. ha of state forests in Croatia. State forest sector is still dominant in Croatia with more than 75% owned by the state. The company itself is one of the largest in the country, having 9 000 employees and still large number of directly employed loggers. With the structure of our forests (large proportion of broadleaves) manual felling with a chainsaw is still the main method of tree cutting. Therefore, we are the right place to organise chainsaw competition. For the details about the company and forests in Croatia, please visit the website of Hrvatske šume.

Last, but not least, we should thank the Permanent Sponsors of ialc and all other sponsors who helped to make this event possible.
